This picture is of course of a nuclear explosion. The reason I chose to use this picture is to show just exactly what extent man, will go to show power and superiority. This particular nuclear explosion was tested on a small chain of islands in the south pacific. The United States performed these tests, after going to the islands, which were our "territories," and telling all of the islands inhabitants they had to leave and find somewhere else to live. They then built a base on the island which was then inhabited by soldiers, and then evacuated. This was to give the bomb the oppurtnity to show off what it would do to structures and the surrounding area. Bsiacally the unoccupied base was to simulate towns and villages, and what damage would be done to them.

I have always found this interesting, not just because of the "bomb" but the lengths a government, such as ourselves, will go to show off, which is really what they were doing. It intrigues me that they would even concieve this. The ultimate weapon, armageddon, the end of man. The U.S. started creating bombs after hearing that the Russians had developed the ability to make a bomb. This information was obtained through Albert Einstein, who in turn helped the U.S. develope its first atomic bombs. I have always believed that if nuclear power was never saught after, we wouldn't be in such terror. Yes there are rules and regulations controlling nuclear power, and also the usage of nuclear warheads, which are listed under the guidlines from the Geneva Convention. But, who is to stop them from being used, just becasue someone said no, there are many nations with the capability of producing and launchin nuclear warheads and other weapons of mass destruction. And, if some nation gets pissed off, whose to tell them no. I just hope I'm dead before this happens, because to me that would be hell on Earth, and I do not want to be around to see that or live that, because that is one slow and painful death.
