I decided to use the picture "Kissing the War Goodbye" for my "picture project." This photo features a young soldier kissing a woman. We can tell by the opther soilders as well as the title that this is a day for celebratipon and that the men are home from war. I have yet to see this photo in color and am pretty positive that it was designed to be in black and white. The black and white distortion adds dramatic effect because it adds a realistic aspect to the picture. Since this photo was taken in 1945 after Germany surrendered, the expression of the people in the background allows the viewer to share the joy of a soilder returning home. This photo tells a story itself by the overwhelming affection showed in the picture. This displays American culture because loved ones are always so happy to see their loved ones return home. The saylor to the left of the picutre (which may not be displayed in this verison) shows great pride in himself by standing tall and smiling. Overall I feel this picture is an awesome display of American culture and attitude during that time. By the couple being the center of the picture we can tell that the photographer may have wanted the over emotion to be the message of the picture.
