Hey Everyone!

Hi my name is Jillian Brennecke. I'm from Hatfield, Pennsylvania where I graduated from North Penn High School. I was on the bowling team for school for 3 years and in my senior year I was elected captain. Outside of school I have been playing on an intramural soccer team for 13 years. I am majoring in Elementary education with a concentration in coaching education. I am looking forward to a great year at KU and a lot of fun in Mahoney's English class.

After reading Raymond Williams "Culture is ordinary" I had to go back a few times and re-read it to fully understand what he was trying to say. Even though I still don't fully understand it this is what I got from it. In the beginning when he was talking about his "journey" I began to feel that I was reading a clipping from his journal or notebook he kept. It was confusing and that was just what I was getting from it. But then I realized that his "journey" was describing changes that had occurred over time, and culture is always changing from human experiences. "Culture is Ordinary" why then? I still can't fully grasp what Raymond Williams "Culture is Ordinary" is trying to say, but I know that with every passing day changes occur from human experiences, that change the culture around us and can make changes seem ordinary.
