Malls, Power, and Resistance
I liked the statistic that 80% of products fail. I just found that interesting. I didn't really agree with this essay to much. Yes I have gone to the mall a lot with friends never with the intent to buy anything. We just went for a lack of better things to do or to meet girls. We didn't go to rebel or start trouble or anything. We would come across someone selling at the mall but now and then or see people that were drunk. I really don't think the dealing or drinking was an act of rebellion in anyway either. I think the dealer just went to the mall because a lot of consumers are there. The people that go drunk probably are just bored and think it would be fun to go wonder around the mall drunk. I don't think teens actions are any more then that. I thought the part about old people going for walks in malls was funny because I ran into that for my first time when I was in Virginia. I was it bit confused at first.
